About the College
Keeping in view the academic needs of the residents of rural, semi-urban and border areas of Tarn Taran district to impart affordable quality education to spread knowledge, the Higher Education department of the Government of Punjab established this College as Government College, Chungh (Tarn Taran).
The foundation stone of the College was laid on 18th of February, 2010 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Parkash Singh Badal in the presence of the education, Civil Aviation, Vigilance and Law Minister Dr. Upinderjit Kaur; Member of Parliament, S. Ratan Singh Ajnala; M.LA. Valtoha constituency, S. Virsa Singh Valtoha; Principal Secretary, Higher Education, S. K.B.S Sidhu, IAS and Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran, Shri Khushi Ram. Later on, the Punjab Government handed over the College to the administration of the University as a Constituent College and the College was renamed as Guru Nanak Dev University College, Chungh (Tarn Taran). Subsequently, the formal inauguration of the college was held on October 21, 2011 by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Parkash Singh Badal. From its beginning since academic session 2011-12, under the visionary guidance of Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Dean Academic Affairs, Dean College Development Council and under the dynamic leadership of current OSD Dr. Gurcharanjit Singh,the College is consistently endeavouring to achieve the set goals.
The College is covered under the 2(F) & 12(B) scheme of the UGC. As a result, it is entitled to receive financial support from the Central government, the government of Punjab and the UGC. The teaching fraternity of college is highly qualified and dedicated who constantly strive for their growth as well as for the holistic development of their students.
